SLIDING GLASS DOOR

This guide specification section is intended for use in the preparation of a project specification section covering the Eclipse frameless sliding glass door system by Avanti Systems USA.

The following additional guide specifications are also available from Avanti Systems USA:

Section 10 2313 - Full-Height Glass Partition Systems: Avanti’s Solare aluminum-framed or frameless fullheight
glazing system.

Section 10 2316 - Freestanding Glass Partition Systems: Avanti’s Elite frameless, single-point stainless
steel fitting glazing system.

This section includes editing notes to assist the user in editing the section to suit project requirements. These
notes are included as hidden text, and can be revealed or hidden by one of the following methods:

PART 1 - GENERAL

1.1 SUMMARY

Edit the following paragraphs to include only those items specified in this section.

A. Section Includes:

Coordinate the following paragraphs with other sections in the project manual.

1.2 REFERENCES

In the following paragraphs, retain only those reference standards that are used elsewhere in this section.

A. ASTM International (ASTM) (www.astm.org):
1. C1048-04 - Standard Specification for Heat-Treated Flat Glass-Kind HS, Kind FT, Coated and
Uncoated Glass.

2. C1172-03 - Standard Specification for Laminated Architectural Flat Glass.
1.3 SUBMITTALS

Limiting submittals to only those actually required helps to minimize liability arising from the review of submittals.
Minimize submittals on smaller, less complex projects.

Include the following for submission of shop drawings, product data, and samples for the Architect's review.

A. Submittals for Review:
1. Shop Drawings: Include plans, elevations, and details showing type and thickness of glass,
fittings, hardware, and accessories.
2. Product Data: Manufacturer’s descriptive data and performance characteristics.
3. Samples:
a. [12 x 12] [__ x __] inch glass samples.
b. Full size door hanger samples.

Include the following for submission of sustainable design submittals.

1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE

The following paragraph specifies a minimum level of experience required of the parties performing the work of

A. Installer Qualifications:

PART 2 - PRODUCTS

2.1 MANUFACTURERS

A. Contract Documents are based on products by Avanti Systems USA.

Edit the following to indicate whether or not substitutions will be permitted for the products in this section.

2.2 MATERIALS

A. Glass:
1. Clear tempered glass: ASTM C1048, Type 1 transparent flat, Class 1 clear, Quality q3 glazing
select, Kind FT fully tempered, [3/8] [1/2] [__] inch thick.
2. Laminated glass: ASTM C1172, consisting of two layers of [3/16] [1/4] [__] inch thick clear glass
with [clear] [translucent] plastic interlayer.

Include the following for custom glass, including etched, tinted, and others. Edit to suit project requirements.

3. Custom glass: [____.]

B. Hardware and Fittings: Stainless steel.
1. Framing components: Fabricated from 3/4 to 1 inch diameter stock.
2. Suspension system: Independently hung, imposing no loads on adjacent partitions.
3. Door hangers: Exposed wheel type with ball bearing axles,
4. Stops: Rubber cushioned.
5. Guides: Floor mounted.
6. Pulls: U-shaped.

2.3 ACCESSORIES

A. Fasteners: Type best suited to application.

2.4 FABRICATION

A. Fabricate doors of frameless glass configuration.
B. Ease and polish glass edges.
C. Prepare glass to receive hardware and fittings.
D. Provide two door hangers per door leaf.
E. Provide 3/4 inch anti-finger-trap space between doors and adjacent panels.

2.5 FINISHES

A. Stainless Steel: Satin finish.

PART 3 - EXECUTION

3.1 INSTALLATION

A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved Shop Drawings.

B. Install components plumb and level, in proper plane, free from warp and twist.

C. Installation Tolerances:
1. Maximum variation from plumb or level: [1/8] [__] inch in 3 feet or [1/4] [__] inch in any 10 feet,
whichever is less.
2. Maximum misalignment of members abutting end to end: [1/16] [__] inch.

3.2 ADJUSTING

A. Adjust doors for smooth operation throughout full operating range.
